The main activity of VC Colets is the weekly Club Ride, which takes place every Sunday morning.  There are usually 2-3 groups heading out for a 3-4 hour ride into the Surrey Hills.

In addition to the weekly club ride they also have a Summer Series of midweek evening rides (from May through to August), as well as an annual weekend residential in Wales and an annual Brighton ride.

There are a couple of ‘socials’ each year too, such as the Annual Dinner & Awards and a Christmas get together for drinks.

Read our VC Colets Summer Newsletter here.

All prospective new members are required to attend one of our ‘New Members Rides before joining. These rides are held (subject to demand) on a monthly basis. You do need to pre-book onto one of these by contacting the VC Colets membership secretary Chris Dain.

If you are already a road cyclist with experience of cycling in an organised group, you do not necessarily need to attend a New Members ride, though still contact Chris Dain to express your interest in joining VC Colets.

On the New Members ride you will cycle with the ‘Steady Group. If you are able to ride with them all the way round then you will be welcome to join VC Colets.

If however, you are off the pace so much that one of the ride leaders needs to extract you from the group to guide you back home you will need to try again in a minimum of two months time once your bike fitness has improved.

As a rough guide if you can do three laps of Richmond Park in under 80 minutes then you should be ok to ride with the steady group.

Whether you have booked onto one of their New Members’ Rides or are already an experienced road cyclist it is essential that you visit and read through the Club Rides page on their website.

As well as advice for newer cyclist on what to carry etc. you will also find other important details such as their ride guide, which clearly states out how they roll when on their group rides.

No one likes rules as such but they are necessary in order to try and ensure that everyone has a good experience who on a club ride, as well as some important pointers with regards to safe and courteous group cycling, so please be sure to read carefully that page on their website.

The club kit is exclusive to members of VC Colets who may purchase it once they have joined and have been on a few club rides.

It genuinely is one of the nicest club kit designs out there and regularly receives complimentary comments from other cyclists. Not only is the design stylish and eye catching but it is of pro-peloton quality, being made Sportful’s Bodyfit Classic range which was developed exclusively for the Tinkoff team.
