Providing childcare for children from age three months through to school age, Colets’ Nursery is part of the purpose-built Childcare Centre at Colets Health & Fitness.
Founded in 2006 and situated in the very heart of Thames Ditton, just a few minutes’ walk from the train station, our Nursery was planned and designed by experienced childcare experts.
Our aim was to create a home from home, caring atmosphere where the children are safe, loved and can grow into confident and happy individuals. Our philosophy is to work with parents to develop “Happy, Healthy Children”.
Open 50 weeks of the year our hours are 7.30am until 6.30pm.
Colets’ Nursery follows the Governments’ Early Years Foundation Stage throughout the children’s time with us.
Communication is key and forming a close and open relationship with our parents starts from day one.
Choosing the right nursery for your child is a huge decision, that’s why our nursery managers and carers will spend plenty of time showing you around our rooms, explaining the daily routine and take great care introducing and settling your child.
Once your child is settled you will be able to access our secure EYLOG online planning, tracking and observing system. With the aid of photos and comments from their Key Worker, it really keeps you in touch and feel a part of your child’s day, as well as being a useful way for you to communicate with us.
Regular social events including parents’ evenings, picnics and BBQs give you the opportunity to meet other parents and our team in a relaxed and informal setting. Grandparents and siblings are very welcome at these events so all the family can feel involved.
Colets’ Nursery are OFSTED inspected to ensure that we meet the educational standards and all requirements recommended by the Governing Body. We promote the Statutory Framework Early Years Foundation, focusing on each child’s individual needs and progress.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is a learning journey used between birth and age five. All Early Years professionals within the EYFS must ensure each child is kept healthy and safe and develops the skills for school and their future. We will guide your child through each stage making sure that their experience is a happy, fun and secure one.
There are seven areas of learning that are followed and incorporated when planning daily activities for your child…
Children learn best when they feel happy and secure.
With this in mind, each room is especially designed to maximise and support the needs of each stage of your child’s development. By creating rooms that are welcoming, safe and stimulating, children gain confidence and realise their full potential. All of our rooms are air conditioned, designed to offer plenty of space, natural light and equipped to provide both stimulation and relaxation. Individual rooms are all equipped with CCTV to create a safe and secure environment and entry to each room is via a camera buzzer.
With it’s soft, comfortable, homely environment this room caters for babies from three months.
Dedicated to the care of our young babies, Caterpillars has a peaceful sleep room, adjacent changing facilities and a milk kitchen, allowing your child to follow the same comforting routine as they would at home. As they grow and develop, your baby will enjoy a range of activities including singing, messy play, sensory and physical play.
The surroundings and play areas here are designed to support your toddlers’ rapidly developing physical skills and stimulate their natural curiosity. We offer arts and crafts, sand and water play and a story area to keep children busy, active and exploring throughout the day. Group activities will include music & movement and singing.
We gradually introduce a daily routine where children take their meals together and have a rest after lunch.
At this stage we introduce dance and drama, Yoga Bugs and construction sessions as well as continuing with music and messy play. Still following the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, the children develop through an extensive but flexible approach to play and learning in these formative years.
Our pre-school children are introduced to a wide range of subjects such as early reading and writing, early maths, science, IT and the world around them. We focus on each child’s individual needs in order to develop their confidence and independence in preparation for school.
A happy team equals happy children so we take the well-being and job satisfaction of our staff very seriously.
We work together to improve and update their skills, qualifications and professional development and invest in their health by encouraging them, and their families to use the health club facilities on offer.
Between them, our management team have over 44 years of experience. Our Manager Asha joined Colets’ Nursery in 2010 with Deputy Jacqui coming on board in 2008.
Being part of Colets Health and Fitness, our nursery also operates as a not-for-profit business so we are always re-investing to make sure we are offering the best possible environment for your child.

Our nursery has its own secure garden which was built using natural materials in order to extend the opportunities available for the children’s learning and development. The children use the garden daily and it has a separate area for our babies and younger children in order that they too can get the most out of being outdoors. As well as the day-to-day experiences the children have just from being outside, the garden has two large built-in sandpits, a bike track, pirate ship and several planting boxes.
