Momentum Children’s Charity

Jan 31, 2020 |

Momentum Children’s Charity has been Colets’ nominated charity since 2017. In the last three years we have managed to raise over £5,600 – with £2,127 raised in 2019!

2019 saw generous contributions through events such as our Triathlon, Charity Spin Classes and the Christmas Shopping Fair. Many of you have also put your spare change in to one of Momentum’s collection tins that we often put on our main reception.

In December, we raised money with our Christmas jumper day and many of you kindly gifted presents through the Giving Tree at reception for those children going through treatment and time away from home during the holidays.

This great figure has helped Momentum provide some the following care;

A child’s visit to hospital is made more bearable because they receive their treatment in one of Momentum’s specifically designed isolation rooms in hospital with colourful walls, twinkling lights and bright furniture.

A distraught mum is able to offload her fears and worries over the phone with one of Momentum’s Family Support Workers and face the day ahead of her.

A treat of a big box full of helium balloons arrives from Momentum at the bedside of a very ill child, bringing smiles all round!

A musical therapist helps a child express their feelings about their illness through song and musical instruments.

A sibling, who may be feeling neglected, can enjoy a fun-filled pamper party and meet other siblings who are in the same situation.

A bereaved family relies on Momentum to organise the practical and logistical parts of their Child’s funeral, whilst they focus on just trying to cope.

Momentum support around 200 families directly with many more benefiting from the hospital improvements. Each year hundreds of trips, experiences and holidays are arranged for around 300 individuals.
