Swimming Pool

Completed in 1999, our pool is the ultimate example of what Colets is about; the principle of re-investing financial surpluses back into the Club since its formation enabled us to undertake a project that was beyond the wildest dreams of those who created the club in 1977. As a result, and having been able to assess the facilities offered elsewhere in the area, we were able to build a pool that, at 25 metres long, caters for the serious swimmer. Of course the needs of families and children are also provided for and there is a timetable which sets time aside for adult-only swimming whilst also offering plenty of opportunity for the family to enjoy the facility together. Our café bar, with its balcony overlooking the pool area, is ideally located for post-swim refreshments.

The water disinfection system is Ultraviolet-based which means that we can keep the chlorine to an absolute minimum, eliminating the strong smell usually associated with pools and ensuring your costume won’t get bleached free of whatever colour it was. In addition to the daily water checks that we undertake, monthly bacterial tests are also carried out by an outside laboratory to help us keep the water in pristine condition.

For those wanting to take it slightly easier, there is also a spa and sauna in the pool area although please note that the sauna is mixed and therefore, sorry, you need to keep your costumes on! There are steam rooms in each of the men’s and ladies’ dry changing rooms.

Various activities are catered for and timetabled, including Aqua Aerobics, separate Swimfit (coached) sessions for adults and children, and group and private swimming lessons. On two nights a week we also dim the lights and put on some calming music for the ever-popular “Chill-Out” sessions which is for adults only. It really is the perfect way of unwinding and getting away from it all.

The pool is lifeguarded by RLSS-qualified staff at all times and the lifeguards also undertake their monthly training sessions in the pool. We also hold courses, in conjunction with an external organisation, for those wishing to obtain the RLSS Lifeguard qualification.
