Functional Training at Colets

More and more people are using Functional Training as their preferred method of training, but what is Functional Training and how can you get the most out of it at Colets?

Functional Training is a form of exercise that involves training the body for the activities performed in everyday life. Body weight, bands, balls, free-weights, and plyometric exercises are used to get the body moving and working at a high intensity, using exercises that mimic everyday movement patterns and sport specific skills. It is an effective way to train and ultimately can help achieve any fitness goal.

Our 30-minute Functional Training classes are designed to challenge all areas of fitness, including strength, speed, mobility, stability, flexibility, coordination, cardiovascular and respiratory conditioning. Our instructors make sure workouts are varied and always different, they plan classes themselves, which allows them to incorporate exercises and movements for people of all fitness levels and abilities. Our newly established Functional Training Studio allows classes for up to 5-6 members to take part, during which the instructor can provide the guidance and motivation needed to get the best out of a work out.

To make sure Colets’ members get the most out of our Functional Training classes they must first complete a brief Functional Training Induction. This is a 1-on-1, 30 minute session with a trainer, which covers several basic movement patterns that are often used during classes. It also give members the opportunity to ask any questions about Functional Training they might have, learn to understand the correct and safe techniques of exercises often used and learn a little more about what to expect when they start attending classes.
